Everyone knows that things are never quite the same after an new baby joins the family. It is always hard to remember what life was like before. So I thought I should right a few things down about what our life has been like this summer before the baby comes.
Our mornings usually start with Bob heading to work around 6:00am. If its a good day I will get up and get ready before the kids wake up (Doesn't happen very often) Max will usually run into my room around 7:30 and ask for some breakfast. He either wants chicken nuggets, eggs and toast or a syrup sandwich (What is a syrup sandwich you ask? It is simply two pieces of bread with syrup in the middle. I think Max and Buddy from the movie Elf would get along very well!)
While Max is eating breakfast Isla will usually make her appearance (and Max will make a rude comment like Oh Man, or go back to bed Isla. And then he will make sure that Isla does not sit by him at the table) she always wants cereal for breakfast and will eat two or three bowls each morning. She is really funny when I pour the milk in. She first pats her cereal with a spoon, then scoops out two or three spoonfuls and puts them on the table and then puts a spoon full in her mouth. Only then am I allowed to pour in the milk.
After breakfast the kids will sometimes watch a couple of cartoons on the local WETA kids channel, like Curious George, cat in the hat, or word world. Sometimes we will turn on the apple tv and watch a movie. Max usually chooses a superhero movie and Isla likes Dora.
Then we will go upstairs to get dressed and brush teeth. Max has to wear a patch over is right eye, so we will have a bit of a struggle or negotiation to get him to wear the patch. He usually ends up getting a treat of some kind just to put the patch on. And then he gets another one after he has worn it for at least 2 hours.
I like to try and do preschool with the kids every once in a while. We will usually focus on a letter of the day, and then Max will practice writing it (Not is favorite thing to do). Then we will sing a song and do a craft that goes along with the letter. Sometimes we will even do a science experiment which is Max's favorite part.
Once every two weeks we will go to the library. Sometimes we will go to story time, and sometimes Max and Isla will play games on the computers. The library has a summer reading program, and this year it was about spiders. Once they read or do the things on the list they get a free book and a prize. Max chose a batman book, and Isla (me) chose a Richard Scarry book. They also got coupons for a free donut at dunkin donuts.
We have a swimming pool right around the corner from us and so we will usually walk to the pool two or three times a week. It is a pool for small kids and Max can reach just about every where in the pool. He loves to swim but he didn't like putting his head under the water. I finally put him in swim lessons a few weeks ago and by the end of the two weeks he finally started to put his head under. He loves to do cannon balls into the pool to. (I think swimming with Liam was a huge influence for him to swim under water too). Isla loves the pool too and she loves to jump off the side into my arms. She also loves to swim in the kiddie pool and move around on her hands.
On the days that it is not to hot, we will get the bikes and scooters out and ride around out front. We also like to walk to the parks that are close by.
We spend a lot of time with Liam and Remy. Max and Isla are always asking me if they can go to their house. Lucky for them I have had a lot of Doctors appointments this summer and Shelli is always so willing to let me drop the kids off while I go to my appointment.
Max and Isla have gotten so much better at playing together. On Sunday they played all morning together until it was time to go to church at 1:00. Of course they don't always get along. There are days where Max won't let Isla in his room or touch his toys, and sometimes when Liam and Max are together they will gang up on the girls and try to trap them with the traps they make out of trio blocks.
Bob loves his job, but sometimes he has to work really late (like tonight). And so it is just me and the kids all day. Sometimes it is a bit overwhelming for me, but I feel like I am getting the hang of getting dinner on the table and getting the kids to bed by myself.
Max's favorite things to play with right now are anything to do with superhero's. Iron Man is his favorite, but any will do. He loves to play with any kind of toy weapon and when he is running he usually has his hands facing down like Iron man, pretending to fly. His favorite color is still green and his favorite Sandwich is an Iron man sandwich (peanut butter and cheese).
Isla loves her dolls, she carries them all over the house, and is such a good mom to them. She also loves to play in her kitchen and make dinner for us. She likes to play superhero's with Max and she is always Pepper Pots. If you ask the kids what we are going to name the baby they will say Iron Man if its a boy and Pepper Pots if it is a girl. Isla also likes the name rainbow for a girl. Isla's favorite color is yellow, and she loves peanut butter sandwiches (Max and Isla do not like jelly on their sandwiches). We also eat Big pasta (pasta roni shells and cheese), Kraft macaroni and cheese, and chicken nuggets for lunch.
I LOVE my family! and I am exited that our new addition will be arriving soon.
Max showing me all of his "weapons"
One day I found Max and Isla in my bathroom "making the baby pretty" with my make up. The first time I laughed. But when they did it again a few days later I wasn't very happy.
For preschool one day we learned about the letter D. and about Dinosaur's. So we made so Dough, and shaped it into a volcano and used baking soda and vinegar to make it erupt.
Max wanted the lava to be green.
The other day Bob and the kids were out on the back deck watering the plants, and they were attacked by mosquito's. The kids each had about eight or nine bites. Bob put some anti itch medicine on them and then put band aids on to prevent the kids from scratching them.
This time the kids were playing house and Max was the dad and Isla was the mom and the put there babies down for a nap and and the took a nap with them.
Swim lessons
Max just came up out of the water. He is so excited to be able to swim under water.

this post is fabulous. You are going to make a great mom to THREE!! Maybe one of these days we can see you now that Heidi and Tim live somewhat close to you guys. So when we visit them we'll have to visit you guys too.
Loved the peek into your every day life. What a busy one!
This makes me feel a little guilty. We don't ever get this much accomplished in one day. You go girl!
Yes you are a great mom! love the picture of Max in that wig. So funny :)
