One Week In - Day 7

Today marks the point of our trip where we have spent one full week on the road! We woke up in Newnan, Georgia this morning and headed out! We didn't get out of the hotel 'till about 10:00 am. We took our time getting ready, Max still wasn't feeling too well, so we let him sleep as long as we could.

Breakfast at the hotel's continental breakfast was quite entertaining! There was a group of men from England staying at the same hotel as us, and they were accompanied by one loud, southern woman. Hilarity ensued! The woman talked to the men about how she was a "Fertile Myrtl" and they talked with her about their time spent at the bar the night before picking up women, while right between us and them a mom and her young son said a prayer before eating their breakfast! We couldn't help but appreciate the irony!

After breakfast we got back on the road, headed straight through Atlanta, through South Carolina and into North Carolina. Max did pretty well considering he was still coughing and sniffling. During the length of our trip, both kids have done pretty well. They usually sleep most of the way, and when they do wake up, they seem to always wake up at the same time! Shayla wrapped like, a million presents before we left, and when Max starts to get a little fussy or starts asking to get out of the truck, we let him open a present. Usually it's only about two a day that he gets to open. This helps to keep him a little entertained and gives him something new to play with along the way.

Sometimes Shayla will climb into the back seat and sit between the kids. She'll watch movies with them and help to keep Isla entertained with crackers, rice cereal, or a few of her toys. I'm sure it's not the most comfortable place for her to sit, but the kids really seem to enjoy it! Max has even started asking her to sit back there with him everytime we get into the truck!

We stopped for the night at my sister's house in Charlotte, NC. We got there at about 3:00 in the afternoon, so it was nice to have most of the afternoon to kind of take a break and unwind. Amy made us a fantastic dinner! I'm sure she didn't think it was much, but after eating fast food all week, it sure was nice to have a good home-cooked meal. Right now Shayla and I are at the point where nothing sounds good anymore. When we try to find a place to eat, we drive by all the McDonalds, Wendys, and Taco Bells, etc, and end up either not getting anything, or just stopping at Wendys to get Max some chicken nuggets. Needless to say, the home cooked dinner was the best we've eaten all week! Thanks Amy!

Max was also very glad to be able to stop, get out, and have room to run around and play! Even though he hasn't been feeling very well, he didn't let that stop him from running around and having fun! Amy has two little boys, one about a year older than Max, and one that is seven months older than Isla. Max had a blast playing with the boys, even if he didn't want to share any of the their toys with them!

We also had a good time visiting and playing games. This has been the best stop of the whole trip, by far!

I had a request to post a picture of the bugs on the radiator, well, Here ya go! Believe it or not, most of these have been traveling with us all the way from Texas!
