3, 2, 1 Blast Off! - Day 5

Once again, morning came before we were ready. Max actually slept pretty good last night (the first time on the trip that he's slept through the entire night!) but I'm afraid I can't say the same for Isla.

Our first stop today was at the Houston Space Center. We mentioned this place to Max a few days ago and ever since he has been telling us that he wants to go see the space ships! Today was his lucky day! The Houston Space Center has an amazing 3 story play structure for little kids. Max loved climbing up and down all the ladders and platforms, flying in the rockets, crawling through the tunnels, launching moon rocks into space, and going down the slide. I think he could have spent the entire day there if we would have let him!

We also had a lot of fun looking at the different space shuttles, rockets, and other spacey things. We were also able to go see the insanely huge Saturn V rocket. NASA wasn't messing around when they built that! It's crazy that it takes suck a large rocket to get a little space pod like Apollo up into orbit!

After the space center we made our way across the bridges and roads of Houston, out of Texas (finally!) and into Louisiana. Louisiana is just as bridge crazy as Houston. It's almost as if the two are waging some sort of bridge war to see who can make the biggest and best! Houston wins for stacking bridges on top of each other, and Louisiana wins for making the longest bridge. How long you ask? Try twenty miles! Yeah, TWENTY miles! To the best of my ability to measure the length of the bridge anyway. This bridge passed over the Henderson and Des Ourses Swamps.

We also saw our first glimpse of the mighty Mississippi River today as we drove over it in Baton Rouge! It's not as big as they say. It's got nothing on the Virgin River in St. George!

Tonight we are staying in a small town called Laplace. It's just outside of New Orleans. We'll see if we can't find another bridge or two tomorrow.

Oh yeah, one last thing. Tonight, in our hotel room, max took off with a box of Isla's rice cereal. He ran toward the door and dumped it out all over the floor! I'm sure housekeeping is going to love that mess in the morning!

Max loved playing in the rocket ships in the play area! This one was about three stories up, and hung out over the edge of the play structure. When Max looked out the window he said, "Sure is a long way down out there!"


Max also got to fly in a much larger "Spaceship"! This was a movie motion ride, and Max loved it so much he went on it twice!

Apparently Isla didn't think the Space Center was all that exciting.

Max and I found another space ship to fly.
