Jingle Bells, Gingerbread, & Cake

We've been doing our best to get ready for Christmas, and the other day Max decided it was time for it to be here. We heard him in the living room, playing around, and all of a sudden it got pretty quiet. Usually he'll go in there to play with the train around the Christmas tree or to sit on the cat (luckily we haven't had to deal with him pulling ornaments off the tree or getting into other mischief) but when it got quiet, we knew something was amiss. Shayla walked in to find Max sitting on the chair with as many presents as he could fit into the chair with him! When Shayla asked him what he was doing his reply was, "Just sitting." Yeah right! We told him we had to leave the presents under the tree 'till Christmas, and put them back. Shayla and I went back into the other room and not one minute later, we heard the sound of ripping paper. Yup, Max decided it was time for Christmas! Unfortunately, Max opened one of Shayla's presents, not one of mine. When we went in to check out what he was getting in to, Max stood up and ran down the hall to hide! Who teaches kids these things?!

Anyway, we've been able to intercept any other attempts at an early Christmas, but we have to constantly keep a close eye on things. Those presents have been under the tree since early December and Max never paid a single bit of attention to them, and now, all of a sudden, that's all he wants!

In other news, we made gingerbreadless Gingerbread Houses today (we used graham crackers instead of gingerbread). We went over to my parents house and included them in on the fun. Here are the results:

My dad's house is on the left, mine is in the middle, & Shayla's is on the right.

Shayla decided gingerbread houses weren't enough of a challenge for her, so she made a cake that looked like a Volkswagen Bus.

Actually, the bus was made for Jeremy's birthday. I think it turned out great! Max decided he didn't want to be left out of all the excitement, so he learned how to sing Jingle Bells!

Again, Shayla the cake is very cool! With my birthday coming up I am hoping you guys will bring me a surprise cake to Jackson :)

Tell Max that if he opens more presents before Christmas that...(put in what ever you want here) and then he won't do it anymore.

Merry Christmas!

whoa Shayla. You should be on that show- Amazing Cakes. Have you ever seen it? I really like the cake. Very creative.

Hope to see you soon. I think we should get Becky and Marci and whoever else is in town and go eat lunch somewhere. (you three are really the only ones I keep in touch with-and Joy when she remembers to check her email- talk to you later.
