I'm glad fall is quickly approaching, and along with it cooler temperatures and less humidity. In fact, since moving to a place that actually has seasons, autumn has easily become my favorite time of year. Still, when the summer sun begins setting earlier in the day and leaves begin to fall from their branches, there's s small part of me that wishes summer would linger just a little longer.
With that in mind, we took full advantage of the opportunity to spend one more summery day and whisked ourselves off to Henlopen State Park in Delaware. This state park's main attraction is a sandy beach, and in fact, Max, Isla and myself have spent three of the last four Saturday-after-Labor-Days here at this very beach (Shayla has joined us on two of those occasions) so this is also quickly becoming a family tradition.
| Lunch at the van, before hitting the sand. |
| Ollie's first time at the beach! |
| We dug a pit. Max was pretty excited when we dug down deep enough to hit water. |
| Wyatt loved playing with the dump truck. This kid is seriously the best at entertaining himself. |
| Isla loved swimming out in the ocean. She was the only one. Max gets scared when the water goes past his knees... |
| And Wyatt pretty much didn't like it at all. This kid makes me laugh. He has two grapes in his cheeks, which makes them look extra chunky. Anytime we eat grapes, he will always, always stick one in each cheek and run around like that. He's our little chipmunk. |
| Wyatt was pretty proud that he got to be a mermaid (or I guess I should say, merman) like his big sister. |
| Max didn't want to be a mermaid so he got to be a four-tentacled octopus instead. |
| Isla was our nine-tentacled octopus. |
| Oliver just chilled the entire time. |

How fun. I can't believe you didn't even invite us! jk, but really... can't you see our kids having a grand ole time at the beach together. :)
Great pictures, looks like fun. Thanks.
I want some beach time the next trip!
That is the most ground shaking earth shattering awesomest sand castle I have EVER seen! So cool!
