We had a lot of fun there, but it was a little windy and actually quite cold so we didn't stick around for too long.
We got back in the truck with the intention of heading down to Alexandria, but as this was our first unguided trip into DC, we took a wrong turn and ended up on the other side of the river at the Lincoln Memorial! After a few minutes we were able to finally get turned around and back on our way.
We thought we finally had our route figured out before we noticed we were on the freeway headed south toward Richmond! Fortunately, we were able to get off on an exit that took us straight into the heart of Alexandria.
We spent the next two or three hours walking through Old Town and checking out the little shops that lined the streets. Our favorite was a small ice cream shop that served up some amazingly delicious green apple ice cream!
We had a great time exploring the sights around our new home and the next time we head out, we'll have to take a GPS unit!

Next time you head out to Alexandria you will have to check out the Mason Temple. It is kind of interesting and suprising how many similarities there are to the LDS Church.
Yum, that ice cream looks good. Gravelly Point looks like the perfect spot for little boys. Have you seen the giant in the park yet? It was close to the FDR memorial I think.

We drove right past the Mason temple. Didn't stop to go in though. We'll have to do that next time.
Giant in the park? I didn't know there was one! We'll have to go on a giant hunt one of these weekends to see if we can find it.
