Home Sweet Home! - Day 9

We finally made it!!! We woke up to the same old routine this morning. Shayla and I getting up and getting ready to go while the kids slept. After about an hour, Isla woke up, followed by Max about two minutes later. Both kids were happy!

We got them fed, got them dressed, and got them into the truck! We set off for one last time! The drive through the Virginia mountains (if you can call them that) was just as pretty as the day before. Fall is just beginning here and the leaves are starting to change colors. Every once in a while we'd see a tree that had completely changed to a bright yellow or orange or red. It is beautiful!

After an hour or so, our GPS told us to get off the freeway. We then wound our way through the countryside, through small towns and past rolling farmlands. After about 30 minutes, we turned on to a small dirt road. Wait a second, this can't be right! We both thought. We began to wonder if the GPS really knew where it was taking us after all! It said our house was only a couple of minutes away, but down a small dirt road? That just didn't seem right!

We kept on going, putting blind faith into a little black box, and as it turns out, the GPS did know where we were going after all! We pulled into the parking lot of our new home at about 11:00 am. We checked in at the leasing office, signed our lives away on about 20 pages of paperwork, got our keys, and walked in to our new home!

The apartment is nice and cozy. It is a small two bedroom that will be just perfect as we get used to our new surroundings. It is very pretty around with lots and lots of trees.

We originally scheduled with the moving truck to have our stuff delivered today, but due to some confusion on their part, they went ahead and set up the delivery for tomorrow. So here we are, in our new apartment, with no furniture, no dishes, nothing, but what we bought in the truck with us!

Finding ourselves with half a day to spend and nothing to do unpacking wise, we took advantage of the free time and went to the grocery store to buy something for dinner. We also went on a little walk and explored the neighborhood a little. We found two little playgrounds, a small stream, and met one of our neighbors who absolutely loves it here (good to know)!

It's been a long ride, but I'm glad we're finally here! Now if we can only get the movers here with all of our stuff!

Max and Isla still asleep this morning. Our last night in a hotel!

On the way out! These big totes made it easy to cart all our stuff in and out of each hotel.

Most of the trees here are still pretty green. Some of them however, like this one, are in full fall splendor! This picture does not do this tree justice!

Eating our first dinner in our new home! A bucket of fried chicken (Max had chicken nuggets) on the balcony! Since we have no furniture, this is what we used for a table and chairs!

Our new home! This is a view of our apartment from the back corner. We are on the top floor!

That sounds like a fun trip! I would love to drive across the country and see all the sights like that. Maybe without kids though...
