July 11th Best day Ever! Part 1, Gettysburg

Since we ended up having another weekend in VA we decided to make it a good one!
We jumped in the Car early that morning and headed to Gettysburg.

We started out at the Visitor's Center and Gift Shop and then headed over to Spangler's Spring

Isla wanted pictures of the pretty flowers

When we got to Spangler's spring we were pleasantly surprised to see a bunch of reenactor's there who had set up camp to look just like it would have during the Civil War. They didn't have anything modern there. They were living just like the soldiers would have. They also each had a real person that they were reenacting. They knew everything about those Civil War Solders. Their names, Birthdays where they were from how long they had been enlisted the names of their family. What diseases they had had. It was really neat to listen to them! After hanging out at their camp for a little while we watched them march over to the field and follow orders and shoot their guns.
It was such a fun experience!

She showed us how they washed their clothes

After leaving Spangler's Spring we went over to an Observation tower to have a look over the battlefield and have a picnic lunch.

We then drove around for a little bit before stopping at the Devil's Den
Ollie and Wyatt were asleep in the car, So Bob, Max and Isla went exploring while I waited in the car with the boys

We then loaded back into the van, and told the kids we were headed back to Ashburn.
They all fell asleep and were so excited to see the sign's on the side of the road when they woke up!
