Time for a Recap (of the past few weeks)

So... apparently time flies even when you're not having fun. But as the last few weeks can attest, time flies even faster when you are having fun. So that's pretty much all I can say about how we ended up going from Max's birthday all the way to Christmas Eve.

The last few weeks are a blur, but luckily we have a few photos to help jog our memory.

We started the Holiday season off by inviting a few friends over for Thanksgiving. We did Turkey Day potluck style with everyone bringing a dish or two (or three) until we had all the Thanksgiving necessities. It was a great day and we had a lot of fun spending time together.

The next day, Sparky the elf returned to our home and ever since he has hidden around our house, left us notes, played with our toys, eaten our food, and made crazy messes. We're glad he's here, and Max and Isla love searching for him first thing each and every morning.

A couple Saturdays after Thanksgiving, we returned to Milltown Creek Christmas Tree Farm to choose and cut our own Christmas tree. It was a cold and foggy morning, but by the time our tree was cut the sun was out and the day was warming up quickly! I think a yearly trip here is quickly becoming a Christmas tradition!

Max and Isla were very good at helping choose and cut down our tree, and Isla thought the machine that shakes and wraps trees with twine was "awesome". We also made sure to hit the little gift shop to purchase a couple ornaments for out tree, as well as fill up on popcorn and cider. After getting the tree home we set it up in our living room, and Wyatt helped me with the Christmas lights.

Four days later, I turned 33. Max, Isla, and Wyatt decorated my cake and they couldn't have done a better job! I was at work when they did this, but it looks like they had a great time coloring all over it with food-color markers.

With Christmas getting closer and closer, a visit to Santa was a must-do. Shayla and I were surprised that Wyatt sat there without crying, as we fully expected him to not want anything to do with Santa Claus.

Wyatt has loved playing with the presents (amazingly, he hasn't opened any of them) under the tree and pulling all of the ornaments off within arms reach. Our tree is now a little bare toward the bottom as most of the ornaments have slowly migrated upward to safer territory.

Our good friends went away for the weekend and let us dog-sit Lucy for them. We love when Lucy can come spend a few days at our house, and Wyatt loved playing with her, chasing her around and barking along with her.

And finally, Isla had her Christmas Ballet Recital this weekend. She was so excited when she learned I would be going to watch her dance, but when we got there, she got a little shy and stood in the middle of the floor almost the entire time, while all the other girls danced around her. I still think she did a fantastic job and she was so cute to watch.

Now, we are anxiously waiting for Christmas to get here to see what fun that day will bring.
