Greenbrier State Park

Sometimes you just have to get away. Today was one of those times. We loaded up some stuff, a lunch, and the kids, and then we hit the road. The destination? Maryland! I know, pretty exciting, right? It is if the place in Maryland you're going to is Greenbrier State Park!

Having never been there before, but getting a pretty good recommendation on it from Shelli, we decided we needed to check it out.

Greenbrier is a nice mountain (can you really call these mountains out here?) park that features campgrounds, hiking trails, picnic grounds, and the main attraction, a cool, refreshing, 42 acre, man-made lake!

This was the reason we came. The lake features a long beach of sparkling white sand (obviously not native to the area and obviously shipped in from an ocean-side beach). and a shallow swimming area. It was a great place to go and get away for a day.

We arrived at the man-made wonder around noon. The next five and a half hours were spent swimming and building sand castles. That's really all we did while there, aside from eating hotdogs and potato chips. But we had a lot of fun and our kids were in heaven!
