Super 8!

Yesterday Shayla and I celebrated eight years together.

We started the day out by dropping the kids off with Shelli, then we headed off to Great Falls Park to take in the sights.

It was a beautiful spring day and it was nice spending time together without the kids.

I love this girl!

We left Great Falls and headed in to DC for lunch. We picked up some pitas from Pita Pit and then stopped at Dupont Circle where we ate under this tree.

Dupont Circle is a fun little place and we had a great time watching all the people around us. The circle was filled with college students, people on lunch breaks and others walking their dogs. There were a few children and groups gathered around small tables, playing games of Chess.

After lunch we went down to the National Mall where we stopped at the World War II Memorial before making our way to the National Holocaust Museum.

When we finished up at the museums we headed back to our truck. When we got there, we had a nice Anniversary surprise waiting for us! The city of DC decided to help us celebrate by moving our truck off of the hot, sunny street, and into the cool shade of a large tree on the side of the road.

They also left us a little gift on our windshield!

Ouch! A hundred dollar ticket?!
Apparently we failed to see this...

We saw the three hour parking sign, but somehow missed the two signs above it. When we left the truck there, we were well within the legal parking time, however, we didn't get back 'till after 6:00! And now, thanks to us, the Nation's Capital is now $100 richer!

Happy eighth anniversary Shayla! Thanks for spending the day with me.
