Easter Weekend!

We started our Easter Weekend off on Saturday Morning by walking over to the Broadlands Easter Egg Hunt. Because of our previous experiences with community Easter Egg Hunts haven't been that great, Bob and I weren't sure if it would be worth going t0. But we decided to go anyway, and we are glad that we did. There were a ton of eggs and plenty of room for all the kids to get in there and gather the eggs. We had a hard time holding Isla back until the hunt began, but once it started she picked up an egg for each hand and was content. Out of all the eggs that Max and Isla gathered there were only two with candy in them. The rest were filled with stickers, crayons, and other fun little toys. It was a perfect way to start out our day.

After the Easter Egg Hunt we headed into the city. It was one of the busiest weekends in DC with a lot of different events going on. But the main event was the Cherry Blossom Festival.

I had a "once in a life time" chance to visit D.C. when I was in middle school and I remember watching all of the kites up in the sky next to the Washington Monument, wishing that I had one to fly too. When we moved here I told Bob that we would have to go fly kites at the Washington Monument. It was a perfect day to fly kites, so we made sure to take our kite with us. The only problem was that we forgot the string.

We did run into Shelli and Lige, and watched them fly there kites, but It isn't as fun to just watch. When the Carr's were done flying there kites we all headed over to see the Cherry Blossoms, and took each others family pictures, And then we parted ways.

It was pretty hot outside and Max had seen a lot of people walking around with Popsicles and was begging us for one. So we bought some Popsicles and sat on the grass and relaxed for a while. Before heading home, we walked around to find a place to eat. But most of the restaurants nearby were closed, so we decided to settle on McD's. But as were were crossing the street to McDonald's we saw a lady with a Five Guys drink, so we found out where it was. So we got chicken nuggets for the kids at McDonald's and then headed over to Five Guys for a real hamburger. Mmm Delicious!! It was such a fun day!!!!

Max liked my Ice Cream Sandwich better than his Popsicle.

Sunday Morning the kids woke up to find that the Easter Bunny had come. The Eggs were hidden all over the house and the kids had a great time finding them. But an even better time eating the treats they found in the eggs.
